Hampstead Road

This project provided unique requirements from the client to convert the existing one bedroom apartment with the bathroom accessed through the sleeping area, into a two bed with direct access to the bathroom and laundry from the primary living space.

The first step was to re-purpose the underutilised dining area that was being used as a home office, into a second bedroom, that can be closed off as a private study depending on the occupant. This resulted in a minor reduction to the circulation of the kitchen, but the new galley style that connects to the Living and Dining area provides better flow between these spaces.

The second intervention in the space is to the Bath/ Laundry room, which required the removal of a small linen closet as to allow for a doorway from the main living space directly into the room. This did require the internal laundry area to be relocated and the bathtub to be replaced with a shower. But the benefits of the separation of the spaces far out weighed any challenges in the relocation of these fixtures.
